HAPPY NEW YEAR — Whew already 5 days in, so far so good ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Today is my official first day in office but did jump in yesterday to get projects started just because my OCD would not let me start on a Tuesday ๐Ÿคฃ Anyone else having to relearn their process or how to design again ๐Ÿ™ˆ I'm so excited to be back though and working with some amazing clients this first quarter!

I have also decided on my word of the year which I like to do rather than make lofty resolutions. In other years I think I have gone with Balance, Happy or Courage, which are so powerful and sort of feel quite LARGE to live by. Being Present to me feels like a good daily affirmation, when I feel my mind fading back to something I regret not doing in the past, or worrying before bed about the future. I want to pull myself back from that by just being present and repeating that when things get overwhelming.

It’s how I want to live this year; not wishing away the time to a certain event, constantly looking to the future when I’ll be ‘more fit’ or ‘have more money’ or when I’ve finally ‘made it in business’. This year is about grounding myself fully into my day to day activities, where every step, email, interaction etc is meaningful and thoughtful and I put energy into making that present moment better. No more ‘starting monday!’

I've gone into more detail on the first JMD blog post of 2021 as well as list some of my personal and professional goals, so please feel free to give that a read on the website, and I hope we are in for a great year. I know circumstances and situations can make it hard at times, but there will ALWAYS be opportunities and it will be up to you to take them or not, or make the best of the situation what ever it is ๐Ÿงก

I'd love to hear your word or theme for this year, and any goals large or small you are setting for yourself! ๐ŸŒผ
THANK YOU — I've tried to tag everyone I've worked with over the past few years, to present year, to working with in the new year. It's staggering, it's humbling, it's honesty a bit tear jerking (getting emotional in my old age!? ๐Ÿคฃ). This isn't even counting the number of accounts I wasn't able to tag, or those that haven't launched yet โœจ I am always so grateful and thankful to all those who have put their trust in me, who continue to put their trust in me and in future will trust me with their business dreams to bring their vision to life. I will never not find that incredibly amazing ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿงก

Every project, every email, every challenge and high and low helps me to be a better designer and gives me further insight and experience to add to this crazy journey called running a business. And it's all thanks to other passionate business owners that make this process possible.

It was a BIG year. I'm not going to lie, there were some tough calls, a lot of late nights, possibly tears and tantrums ๐Ÿคฃ but we made it through! And I just wanted to wish everyone on this list (and more, you know who you are!) all the very best with the future, to a bright 2021 and to every endeavour you set your mind to ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿงก

MERRY CHRISTMAS — In before I put my phone down for the next few days to spend time with family and friends ๐Ÿงก I wanted to say a big ol' mushy merry Christmas to all of you and hope you have an absolutely lovely day filled with love and laughter and brightness ๐Ÿ˜˜๐ŸŽ„๐ŸฆŒ๐Ÿฅง๐Ÿฅ‚

I also wanted to thank everyone so so much, to all my wonderful clients THANK YOU for choosing me this year, it has been an honor and a privilege to work with you and your business โœจ you make it possible for me to wake up every day and do what I love, and your passion inspires me so. And for everyone booked in for 2021, I cannot wait to make some design magic!

And to everyone who has said a kind word, commented, messaged, shared, recommended, connected with me, asked a question, liked, tagged, purchased or just followed along — THANK YOU. It means the world ๐Ÿ˜

No doubt I'll write another post before 2020 is up (unfollow now if you hate mushy. Sorry not sorry) ๐Ÿ˜œ and I'll still be semi present on Insta/stories because I just love this platform and my community, however I am not checking in regularly on emails until Jan 1, and clients booked in for start of Jan will take priority for communication ๐Ÿ™ I thank you for your patience and grace as I take a small break to refresh and recharge. Other than that I'll get back to everyone from Jan 4 onwards and opening my wait-list from there. It's going to be a big year I think! ๐Ÿงกโœจ
โš ๏ธ NEW TEMPLATE ALERT โš ๏ธ You asked for it, and @creativeprocessco has delivered! The Logo Colour & File Usage template is now available for purchase from the CPC shop ๐Ÿฅณ

This 7 page Indesign template is here to save you time and headaches by providing your clients with structure and education when it comes to their brand folder. Simply change any wording, fonts, colours or branding to your own/your clients and then either add on to their brand guidelines doc and/or add to the brand folder as its own doc for easy reference (I do both, just for reference). It will be your strategic way of reinforcing logo best practices and ensuring your clients get the best out of their files.

Includes:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Intro page showing your clients how to navigate their brand folder (and my very own brand folder structure!)

๐Ÿ‘‰ A guide to colour modes and knowing which to use

๐Ÿ‘‰ A guide to file types and how to use them

๐Ÿ‘‰ When to use the PNG files (common question!)

๐Ÿ‘‰ Logo do's and don'ts

Does not include any lorem ipsum! However please note I use language I like to speak in for my clients and try not to overcomplicate it with too much technical jargon. As such I take no responsibility for copywriting accuracy in terms of file types and colour modes (I like to keep it as simple and easy to understand as possible!)

๐ŸŽ‰ This template aims to play a strong part in your offboarding and client education strategy, establishing you as a creative expert (and hopefully cutting down on those 'why does my logo have a white background?' emails ๐Ÿคž)

On a slightly downcast note, I just couldn't turn around a mini course on how I save out files and create brand folders with assets ๐Ÿ˜ญ BUT I hope to create this in the new year complete with video tutorials and checklists so you can keep your ๐Ÿ‘€ peeled for that in 2021. CPC will offer it at a lower rate for anyone who has purchased this template as it will go hand in hand with the Logo Colour & File Usage guide.

I so hope this will be useful for any designer either stuck on this part of the creative process, or even as a great add-on if you've been around for a while and want to tighten up this part of the experience.
SUNDAY MUSINGS — Ah Sunday, the day of relaxing, planning and contemplation. I got this phrase stuck in my head this year, and it overwhelmed my thoughts whether I was on a high or having a low. I just needed to keep going, and see where it took me ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผ‍โ™€๏ธI couldn't stop, because that's when the nerves set in about the future.

So it's been pivoting, resting but not quitting, taking calculated risks, or just diving in. It's been trying to move ever forward, or even sideways! I feel like it's been ๐Ÿ’ฏ a year of that in all honesty ๐Ÿคฃ but it's not a bad mindset to be in and one I think we can all carry with us into the new year, where I hope to see this amazing community continue to thrive and prosper, taking every opportunity to do and be better, however the small the steps may be.

I hope this saying will resonate with anyone else who may be on the verge of quitting, or feeling overwhelmed with it all. You aren't alone and there is so much more to experience, even if it may look a little different than you pictured. Rebuild, repair, elevate, come back stronger. Dare I say it, but 2021 could be our year ๐Ÿ˜œ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ™Œ

Just see where it takes you.
2020 YEAR IN REVIEW — What a year right!? I feel like I've been super fortunate to have more ups than downs, but it's still been a bumpy ride! However I always feel once I get to the pointy end of the year just how many positive things have happened rather than the negatives, so thought it was time to share another year in review to feel grateful for all 2020 has had to offer ๐Ÿฅฐ

Some BIG accomplishments this year, mostly in terms of personal and professional growth. Trying out new platforms and digital tools, taking risks when it comes to the business journey, starting a whole NEW business ๐Ÿคฃ it's been crazy. And on the personal front, I will pay my student loan off this year which is a milestone I'll probably cry at, and I've had one of the best years to date in terms of health and fitness balance ๐Ÿ’ช

A few massive lessons learnt also, namely a poor investment that really showed me that I have to trust my passions and not focus on the financial outcome. Also forever learning and adding to my systems so projects don't spiral and I can keep my sanity ๐Ÿ™ˆ

This year I've really found a beautiful little community of friends who I can rely on and be myself around. You worry a bit as you get older that you'll struggle to make meaningful friendships, however I think the universe will always bring people into your life who you need ♥๏ธ it also helps to live close and/or your dogs get along hehe ๐Ÿ•

Goal for 2021? GO ALL IN, take some risks, explore and challenge myself to think big and make an impact. I will be going into my 4th full time year of working for myself and I think I can shed that slightly more cautious shell (without going silly of course!) and just back myself and this business I've built ๐Ÿ™Œ

Loved this little review? Grab the template over on the @creativeprocessco shop and add your own accomplishments and highs and lows of 2020, make sure to tag me too as i'd love to see what you've been up to! ♥๏ธ

And as always, a massive thank you for each and everyone one of you who make this all possible, every kind comment, purchase, question, project and like mean the world and I'm super grateful for your support ๐Ÿฅฐ
